2012 Farleigh Hospice Light Up A Life Appeal
Christmas seems to arrive quicker each year and as it approaches, a lot of us begin planning who we'll be sharing this special time with. We also think about people who have played an important part in our lives, but who sadly won't be with us.
That is what makes Farleigh Hospice's 'Light up a Life' appeal so special as it gives everyone, regardless of whether or not they have a link to the Hospice, such a lovely way to remember lost loved ones and honour their memory at Christmas time.
Each light which shines out from the 10 trees/locations in Chelmsford, Witham, Maldon, Burnham-on-Crouch, Moulsham Lodge, Braintree, Tollesbury, Heybridge, Southminster & South Woodham Ferrers), provides a bright and shining tribute to the people we've said goodbye to over the years. And by sponsoring the lights in memory of our loved ones and making a donation to the hospice, we can all do our bit to help Farleigh Hospice carry on caring for local people affected by life limiting illnesses, both now and in the future.
Official Opening of the London 2012 Olympic Avenue
The Chairman of Maldon District Council will officially open the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Avenue at Longfields Open Space in Maldon on Friday 2nd November 2012 at 11.15am.
Work began on this project in February 2011 when all 19 primary schools in the District, Plume School and the Ormiston Rivers Academy were invited to each plant a London Plane tree to create the avenue.
10,000 gold crocus bulbs were planted by members of the community in November 2011 and the avenue will be completed with a gold plaque to commemorate each gold medal that Team GB won at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
