New Trustees sought by Essex’s No. 1 Charity
Farleigh Hospice is currently offering members of the local community the exciting opportunity to really get involved and make a difference. Its governing body, the board of trustees, needs to recruit some brand new members to replace those who have recently retired. The closing date for applications is 8th February 2013 and successful candidates will be selected through a competitive interview process led by a small panel.
Farleigh Hospice's Chief Executive, Janet Doghan, explains;
"Farleigh Hospice is a registered charity providing free care and support to people affected by life limiting illnesses in the mid Essex area. The board of trustees is responsible for the effective governance of the charity through working closely with both myself, and the senior management team. Trustees give their time voluntarily.
There is ample opportunity for trustees of Farleigh Hospice to add real value to the work of this important local charity and make a real difference to our community. Successful candidates will ideally live within the area served by the Hospice (i.e. Chelmsford, Braintree & Maldon districts) and the ability to work as part of a team is essential. It is preferable if candidates have control of their own diaries. Applications will be particularly welcomed from anyone who can increase the diversity of the board.
Farleigh Hospice trustees give a minimum of 2-3 days of their time voluntarily per month, with more active trustees doing more if they wish. Responsibilities include attending around 12 evening meetings pa (on Mondays), plus day-time committee meetings. Training and support will be provided and travelling expenses may be reimbursed. In return for their voluntary contributions, trustees can expect to reap the benefits of working with the committed team of staff and volunteers in Essex's leading charity, plus the satisfaction of being involved in the delivery of Farleigh Hospice's strategic plan and vision for the future. Being a trustee of Farleigh Hospice is a real opportunity to truly get involved and to help make a real difference to local families affected by life-limiting illness."
